6th Grade Girls Pre-Athletics

Welcome to Prairiland Jr High!

Our 6th grade physical education is considered to be a “PreAthletics” course. The purpose of PreAthletics is to prepare students, to the best of our ability, to be a part of our Jr High Athletic program in the years to come. We will work on strength, conditioning, sport specific skill work, agility/plyometrics, and proper lifting techniques. Each week will include 2 conditioning/plyometric days and 2 days of sport specific skill training, Fridays will vary. We understand that every child will not participate in athletics for a variety of reasons, but we do hope that our class teaches them life skills that will prepare them for a long healthy lifestyle!

We have two classes for 6th grade girls, 2nd or 5th period. Your child's schedule will have Tucker listed for both classes, but Tucker will be teaching the 5th period group and Mrs. Watson will be helping us out with instructing the 2nd period class. Both classes will do the same activities.

Your child will be required to change into athletic attire daily. Each student will have an assigned lockerroom to keep numbers within COVID guidelines (less than 15 per locker room). If for any reason they feel uncomfortable in a locker room setting we will allow them to use the restroom stalls or coaches office.

** They will not be required to change on the first day of class**

Things you will need daily:

Shorts/leggings & t-shirt (no tank tops)

Tennis Shoes

Deodorant

Water Bottle

Mask will be required when entering the gym and while in locker rooms (unless medically excluded from state mandated mask order). Mask WILL NOT be required during the actual workout. Many of our workouts will take place outside (weather permitting). Social distancing, equipment sanitation, and group gathering guidelines will be put into place.

For those that have chosen at-home learning, more information will be provided on Google Classroom on the first day of class (August 24th).

Please email Coach Tucker if you have any questions or concerns.
